I’ve been a yoga and meditation teacher since 2005 and have been on a life long journey learning about the body, movement, spirit, sound and self expression.  I also work as a Lecturer in Education and have completed a Master of Education with research in Mindfulness.  I have qualifications in education, sound healing, children and adult’s yoga, meditation, art therapy and reiki.

Growing up with a parent with significant mental illness and a desire to live an authentic life, searching for my truth has been, and is, a continual journey.  Through witnessing this experience I not only developed a clear focus to live a life true to my own heart but also saw the difficulties of living with a long term mental illness.  Now, I come a place of vowing to treasure my own mental health, and my journey so far has been integrating and learning from this experience

Music has a special place in my life.

Music has had a special place in my life, although I never pursued any particular musical skill. I have many many positive memories around music. I remember piano lessons as a child with our teacher who used to serve us very sweet cordial. I know that I was not so enamoured with the piano but I used to love singing while she played an old time tune called ‘Cherry Ripe’ on the piano.
I recall knowing and saying to my Dad, that as long as I had music playing that I didn’t mind what I was doing - emptying the dishwasher, cleaning or washing the dog. Even as a child, I found another level of experience and refuge in sound. I remember my younger sister and I listening to our yellow Whitney Houston tape in the silver Akai tape recorder and playing ‘I will always love you’ over and over again.

As a child I remember that I loved the freedom of freeform dancing and music. Growing up I was always wanting to be on the dance floor dancing. As a young Mum I ran No Lights No Lycra which is about  dancing in the dark again connecting in with music, body and meditation.

In 2018, I started studies in sound healing, and completed a two year Diploma of Integrated Sound Healing, Multi Instruments (Individual Clients) with Sound Healing Academy.

In my yoga classes I began to use the Tibetan bowls in my yoga classes more and people began to comment on how positive they felt. Then I did a short course on sound healing and a new world began to open up as I practiced the sound healing techniques myself and I began to notice changes.

I started to explore sound and attended some vocal toning workshops and sound baths and realised that this was a mode that really to spoke to me. I enrolled in the Diploma of Integral Sound Healing and started to offer many free sound healings. I was overwhelmed by the positive experiences and comments I received. Early on, I gave a sound healing to a lady who had recently been diagnosed with bowel and lung cancer and she said that during the sound healing she was able to feel peace and calm for the first time since her diagnosis. This was a turning point for me. I realised that this was a medium that I could develop to help others and come from my authentic place.

And although I was learning about the instruments and methods of sound healing, my own practice and teaching of yoga and meditation over the last 20 years was all supporting a healing and calming space for my sound healing participants.

In Celtic traditions, if one was needing to take passage to the other side it would transform into a swan.

The Celtic deities saw the swan as
‘Rising glory of a new day, as well as the farewell of an old day.’

To me, I see gratitude in each new day, and the letting go of what has passed.
